PARAMUS, NJ – In a live Zoom event broadcast on Facebook today, Jeff Tittel, Director of the New Jersey Sierra Club, highlighted U.S. Congressman Josh Gottheimer’s (NJ-5) leadership on local and national environmental issues. The nation’s most enduring and influential grassroots environmental organization, the Sierra Club and its 3.8 million members and supporters had endorsed Gottheimer in November for his “demonstrated commitment to protecting America’s environment.”

“Congressman Gottheimer has been a leader when it comes to protecting our environment on a local and national level. He is an advocate for full funding of the Land and Water Conservation Fund, fighting to get lead out of our schools, cleaning up toxic sites like in Vernon, protecting the Wallkill River National Refuge and moving forward on cleaning up harmful algae in Greenwood and Lake Hopatcong. We have stood side by side on many environmental battles and are proud to endorse him,” said Jeff Tittel, Director of the New Jersey Sierra Club. “The Congressman is also an advocate for clean water and open space, taking on opposing offshore drilling, he has a stellar record when it comes to protecting the air we breathe and the water we drink. He works hard to protect the environment for the people of the 5th District. He has shown to be an environmental leader and we proudly endorse him.”

“I am honored to receive the support of the Sierra Club and to stand alongside its millions of members to protect our environment and fight for a safe, healthy, and more sustainable future,” said Gottheimer. “Now more than ever, we need to be working together as Americans, regardless of party affiliation, to keep our air and drinking water safe, preserve our natural resources, protect open spaces, clean up toxic pollution, combat climate change, and invest in clean energy solutions. I’m proud of my record on these issues, and I’ll continue fighting aggressively for practical, achievable, and bipartisan solutions to protect our planet and the health and safety of our families for generations to come.”
