WASHINGTON TOWNSHIP, NJ — Rep. Josh Gottheimer joined the Washington Township (Warren) Police Department for “Coffee With A Cop” on Thursday, taking a tour of the department’s new equipment.

Thanks to the Department of Defense’s Law Enforcement Support Office (LESO), the department has received $110,000 in new policing equipment. That program gives extra Department of Defense equipment that would otherwise be destroyed to local police departments across the country.

Since joining the program is 2017, the Washington police have received a utility truck used for water rescue and flooding emergencies, a forklift truck with handling attachment, and a cargo trailer.

Gottheimer touted the new equipment as a win for New Jersey’s fifth congressional district.

“Every single day, our law enforcement officers across the Fifth District and across the country put their lives on the line so that we can enjoy the freedoms and blessings of living in the greatest country in the world,” said Gottheimer.
