Labor Day traditionally signals the escalation of political campaigns, and this year appears to be no different. 63 days before the next election, Congressman Josh Gottheimer released ‘Jersey Values’ a campaign advertisement painting the Congressman as a bridge builder.
The ad features Vernon Mayor Harry Shortway, a Republican, Oakland Mayor Linda Schwager, a Democrat, and Fifth District families, first responders, veterans, and seniors. From the inside of a diner, these the Mayors, a male veteran, a fire fighter, and a grandmother giving a testimonial to highlight Josh’s work to do what’s good for Jersey. They each speak as they identify themselves to set up their joint endorsement: “what are the chances that a fire fighter, a veteran, a grandmother, a Democratic Mayor, and a Republic Mayor agree on politics? Unlikely. But we all agree on Josh Gottheimer.”
Josh is Co-Chair of the bipartisan Problem Solvers Caucus. He was endorsed by the U.S. Chamber of Commerce and was ranked the most bipartisan freshman Democrat by the Lugar Center at Georgetown.
Gottheimer’s ‘Sweet Old Lady’ commercial in October 2016 featuring an elderly woman using expletives to criticize then-Congressman Scott Garrett was praised for its bold language and humor. Will Gottheimer, or his Republican opponent John McCann release R rated commercials this election cycle? Only time will tell.
