Gottheimer Earned Perfect 100 Percent Score for Helping Prevent Animal Cruelty

U.S. Congressman Josh Gottheimer (NJ-5) announced today that he has received the endorsement of the Humane Society Legislative Fund for his leadership on animal protection issues. Gottheimer has also earned a perfect 100 percent score on the organization’s legislative scorecard for his strong record supporting legislation to prevent animal cruelty and to advance the humane treatment of animals.

“Time and again, Josh Gottheimer has shown support for commonsense federal animal protection policies including cosponsoring the first anti-cruelty statute recently signed into law,” said Sara Amundson, president of the Humane Society Legislative Fund. “The Humane Society Legislative Fund is pleased to support Josh Gottheimer, and voters in the 5th District who care about the humane treatment of animals should back his re-election.”

“I’m honored to receive the Humane Society’s endorsement and will always fight to make sure animals are treated and cared for humanely and with compassion,” said Gottheimer. “Animals are cherished companions in our homes, valuable partners to people with disabilities, critical to our farms and our economy, and much more. I’m proud of my 100 percent animal protection record because we must do all we can to prevent their abuse and exploitation, protect their health and safety, and ensure every animal is treated responsibly.”
