Led by elected officials from across the Fifth District, the group will advise Gottheimer on policy issues, outreach, and strategy

PARAMUS, NJ – U.S. Congressman Josh Gottheimer (NJ –5) announced today the formation of “Women For Josh,” a new group led by elected officials from the Fifth District who will advise him on policy issues and strategy, and help lead outreach to women voters.

“In Congress, Josh has been a leader on so many issues we believe in, including protecting a woman’s right to choose and her access to essential health care, fighting for equal pay, and strengthening policies that help parents take leave and care for their children,” said Senate Majority Leader Loretta Weinberg (NJ-37). “At a time when women’s rights are constantly under attack, it’s never been more important that we re-elect representatives like Josh.”

“Josh has been a strong, effective voice for gender equality, including helping to empower women in the workplace, fighting to prevent discrimination and harassment, and working to strengthen opportunities for women and girls,” said Assemblywoman Valerie Vainieri Huttle (NJ-37).  “I’m proud to support him and look forward to working to send him back to Congress.”

“As a woman in politics I have stood on the front lines to defend our right to choose, to earn equal pay for equal work, and to ensure that women’s health care is prioritized and protected,” said Assemblywoman Lisa Swain (NJ-38). “Josh has proven time and again that he is an ally in all these fights and that is why we need his voice in Congress to stand up for us all.”

“I am honored and humbled to receive the support and advice of so many influential women in the Fifth District,” said Gottheimer. “As ever, I am thankful to be guided by women who have passionately dedicated their lives to public service and given so much to our District. To be fighting alongside council women, mayors, freeholders, Assembly women, and State Senators to make a difference for our families is the ultimate privilege. We are in this fight together against all attempts to turn back the clock on decades of progress.”
